Using the tools

Today Momo wanted a launcher for some new little cars he got yesterday, so we decided to Google how to make one. We found this video http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9vSnqgWyU1M
And decided to have a go. Momo found a bit of old decking he thought would work. We found screws, those little loopy things, an elastic band but no 'flexi-glass' as Momo called it, so we improvised with the lids from Chinese takeaway!
Momo did the measuring
I used the jigsaw to cut the pieces, then Momo sanded the scratchy edges
Momo cut the plastic
Then he screwed it on
He twisted in those loopy things
Put on an elastic band, and.....taaadaaaaa!!!!!!!
Zooming cars!

The Beginning

We are just beginning our Home Ed journey. Two of my 3 boys will be officially home educated from September, Squashy who is 12 and Momo who's 4. Bigman is coming upto 15, and NO WAY will he be HE! He is extremely academic, loves school and has a fantastic plan for his future so wants to stay in school. But that's fine by me. I am not anti-school, and I am fully aware that every child has different needs. For the moment school is not the best place for Squashy to be, and as for Momo, well, he's still a baby to me and why should some strangers get to spend more of the day with my baby than I do?
We are kind of planning (or not!) to go with an autonomous, child-led/unschooling approach to learning, and with one child who can't yet write much and another who despises writing I was worried we would have no way of showing what we have been doing. I was pondering this while I ate my breakfast (Fluff on a bagel) and I decided to start this blog for us to record our adventures and fun, so the boys can look back at it and remember, and so those who are a little sceptical about our plans can see how they go & follow the madness!
And so our adventure begins.
